Moon Harvest exhibition

The exhibition presents a harvest from the work of painter Eva Fajčíková.

The power and might of the Moon and its lunar phases have fascinated the human race for centuries. It has become an integral part of the complex symbolism of various cultures, selected archetypes and constantly rewritten and reinterpreted stories. The magical power of moonlight appears most prominently as a backdrop in records of the practices of ``diabolical'' witches and their nocturnal escapades.
For Eva Fajčíková, the monthly harvest of herbs (paradoxically carried out at any time other than the full moon), as well as the characters of witches, appeared in her painting due to an interest in counter-normative narratives to the traditional production of knowledge that arose in a society that programmatically suppresses women. Women like the latter, others, were for a long time considered inferior, sinful, the cause of man's fall from grace in the gardens of Eden. Those women who gained knowledge and power through the knowledge of herbs, potions, and salves, in turn, became a threat to the patriarchal status quo. For Eva (sic!), however, powerful women / witches become - at first (traditionally) unpleasant - the heroines of their paintings. They are fearless and sovereign masters of their destiny in a parallel world that does not judge or burn them based on their identity or their appearance.
